TEACHER
I was born and raised in Shreveport, Louisiana, and I am a proud 1975 graduate of Woodlawn High School. Go Knights! After high school, I attended East Texas Baptist College in Marshall, Texas, 1975-1980, where I studied Music Education. I was even crowned Miss ETBC in1977. Due to family job changes and moving away, I didn’t graduate from ETBC. I started my own Music Studio and taught private piano, guitar, and voice lessons for 25 years. Always dreaming of getting my college degree, I pursued an online degree and in 2008, I graduated from Ashford University.
From Ashford University, I earned a BA in Social Science with an Education Concentration.
I hold a Louisiana certification in Music for Early Childhood – 12th grade and a Texas certification for All Level Vocal Music.
My first year as music teacher at Carver Elementary was 2013. Before that I taught music at Pinewood Elementary and Choir at DeRidder Junior Hgh for one year.
Before moving to Beauregard Parish, I taught choir, piano, and guitar for 10 years at Edna High School, Edna, Texas.
For the 2019-2020 school year, I was honored to be chosen as the Carver Elementary Teacher of the Year and the Beauregard Parish Elementary Teacher of the Year.
My husband, Rev. Danny Wilson and I have been married since 1978. We have 3 married daughters and 6 grandchildren.
Music is so much a part of my life. I teach school music and on weekends I get to lead music for my church family. While music takes most of my time, I do have other things I enjoy. Of course, my very favorite thing is playing with my grandchildren. After that, I love to travel with my husband. We love to explore unique places and enjoy exciting getaways during the summer.
